I am Abbas Akhtar, a meditation teacher and coach. This policy describes how I collect, use, and share personal information when you visit abbasakhtar.com, join my mailing list, attend an online meditation session, or message me by email or WhatsApp.

Information Collected

Website: If you visit abbasakhtar.com, my hosting provider may automatically collect technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, and approximate location derived from the IP address. If the site uses cookies or analytics, those tools may also collect usage data.

When you contact me or join a session. I may collect:

  • name
  • email address
  • phone number (including WhatsApp)
  • location or timezone you share
  • notes you give me (for example dietary needs, experience with meditation, or questions)
  • whether you prefer email or WhatsApp
  • session registration and attendance
  • the content of emails and WhatsApp messages you send me, and copies of messages I send you (session announcements, confirmations, join links, reminders, and replies)

Payments. If you ever pay me (for example for a session or course), payment processors collect the billing details needed to complete the transaction. I typically receive confirmation and limited billing metadata, not your full card number.

How I use this information

  • to operate and improve my website, service and offerings
  • to answer questions and stay in touch
  • to tell you about online meditation sessions and send confirmations, join links, and reminders
  • to keep a simple record of clients and sessions so I can message the right people on the channel they chose
  • to receive and reply to WhatsApp messages, including when I am not at my computer
  • to maintain the security of these systems

I do not sell your personal information. I do not use your WhatsApp or email content to show you ads.

WhatsApp and Email

If you give me your email or WhatsApp number and ask to hear about sessions (or you reply to me on those channels), I treat that as permission to message you about sessions and related practical updates.

  • Email is sent through Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon SES).
  • WhatsApp is sent and received through the WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API), operated by Meta. Incoming messages are stored so I can read and reply (including a notification email to me, and files in Amazon S3).

Meta, WhatsApp, and Amazon process message data as their platforms require. Their own policies also apply:

You can opt out of session announcements at any time by emailing me or by replying STOP on WhatsApp. I will then stop promotional or reminder messages. I may still send a message if needed to complete something you already asked for (for example a join link for a session you registered for).

Where information is stored and who it is shared with

I store client and message records in systems I control (including a private database on my computer and backups or message files in Amazon Web Services). Hosting for abbasakhtar.com is provided by my website host.

I share information only with:

  • Meta / WhatsApp, to deliver and receive WhatsApp messages
  • Amazon Web Services, for email, file storage, and the webhook that receives WhatsApp messages
  • website hosting and domain providers
  • professionals I am legally required or reasonably need to involve (for example an accountant or lawyer), or if required by law

These providers process data on my behalf or as independent platforms. They should not use your session messages to market their own products to you beyond what their terms already describe.

Retention

I keep contact and session records while you are on my list or it is useful for running sessions, and for a reasonable period afterward (for example if we might work together again). Website server logs are kept according to the host’s defaults or a short period for security. I delete or anonymise information when I no longer need it, or sooner if you ask me to and I am not required to keep it.

Your choices

You can ask me to:

  • see the information I hold about you
  • correct it
  • delete it (including WhatsApp and email history I stored)
  • stop email or WhatsApp session messages

Email abbas@abbasakhtar.com. I will respond as soon as I reasonably can. Deleting your data on my side does not delete copies that already exist in your own email or WhatsApp app, or that Meta/Amazon retain under their own rules.

If you use WhatsApp, you can also manage some data through WhatsApp’s in-app settings.

Security

I use access controls, private storage, and standard provider security. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Third-party links

abbasakhtar.com may link to other sites (for example a registration form or a video meeting). Their privacy practices are their own.

Changes

I may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change. The current version will always be at this URL.
